You are South the bidding goes :

Pass 1 1 2

Dbl** pass 2 3

Pass * 3NT pass pass

Dbl pass pass pass

* : Support double

** : Double would ask for an other lead.

What do you lead?

Lemme see if I get this straight:

I overcalled 1 with:

6

J9842

98

K9652

And partner doubled 3NT after supporting my hearts? (with a 'support double').

I should lead a heart and hope partner won't mind 750.

No, I didn't, and you cannot convince me that I did. If you put a gun to my head, I'd take the damn bullet rather than being forced to bid 1.

Everything after this is just noise and a waste of time to try and answer.

jmoo.

EDIT: If I believe that I am playing with a real expert, I would expect the X of 2 to be snapdragon (showing spades and heart tolerance) without agreement, or possibly Rosenkranz (which is similar to a support double but promises at least one of the top three honors in the suit) by agreement and anyone who thinks it is a regular support X needs to go over to the B/I forum and ask "What is a support double?"

I suppose you could agree to play it this way, but:

1) it would be silly to do so and,

2) not without discussion and,

3) I still do not have this problem as there is no way in hell that I would ever bid 1.

Phil, I hear ya man.

Hi,

the better alternative to 1H would have been 2NT, asuming this

showes clubs and hearts, the adv. is, that I show both suits and

kill space.

Not having done that, I will lead a heart, your partner showed

heart support and had the option to ask for a different lead.

If he would not have the option to double 3H, than I would say

go with a club.

With kind regards

Marlowe

I lead a . Partner can insert the Q from AQx on the first trick and if that fails, he may have 1-2 diamond stoppers and hope that our K is an entry. Btw, while I am all for overcalling light at the 1 level, bidding with this is over the top. Partner's a passed hand and all you are doing is advertising your distribution to the opponent's hand as you know they will be declaring. If you wanted to bid at least bid 1NT or 2 or something even though I wouldn't do both.

Hmmm rubish overcall followed by support (Dbl :) for crying out loud), and partner didn't ask for another lead. So guess what, I'm leading a and prepare my apology when declarer is thinking.
