jillybean
1♠ , if partner passes and I get another bid 2♥.
Hanoi5
1♠. I have 'only' 17 but this sort of smells like mis-fit.
pooltuna
Double I have no problem bidding 2♠ over 2♣ and 3NT over 3♣ if partner starts with that
Cascade
1♠. Swap the minors and I double. Double and bid with this poor spade suit is not very attractive especially when partner might jump to 3♣ or worse compete to 3♣ over a 2♦ raise. kgr
[hv=n=sxxhqjxxxxdxcxxxx&s=skqxxxhaktxdajtxc]133|200|[/hv]The bidding:(1♦)-1♠-(2♣)-Pass(Pass)-DBL-(Pass)-2♥(3♦)-DBL-(Pass)-3♥All Pass I was sitting North and I'm not used to 'heavy' overcalls. With my previous partner the max he would have was like 16 pts. I should have bid 4 ♥ anyway (Partners 1st DBL is promising a 4 card ♥?). Q: Is an advantage of starting with 1♠ not that it is easier to show 4 card ♥ if partner is weak (...1♠...DBL.. versus ...DBL...1♠....) or is that not important? Edited: Added 3D bid

There is something wrong with you auction. Partner doubled your 2♥ bid. At any rate having bid hearts I don't see the point in your partner doubling again he can just make a quantitative raise. gwnn
if partner doubles my 2♥ bid, I pass and hope for +470. If he invites me in any way, I definitely accept since I promised him 0 but in fact I have QJxxxx and 6-4.
kgr
...Corrected the bidding above by adding a (3D) bid
Codo
1 Spade for sure Am I the only one, who would prefer a simple 2 Heart instead of a double of 2 ♣? And what about 3 heart instead of the double of 3 diamond?
NickRW
Well, I double originally. For me, at MP, this is too strong, given that I play quite cheeky 1♠ overcalls at that form of scoring. Nick

Nick I also overcall light, but this is still a clear 1♠ overcall for me.

In the current auction you only know, that partner is brokeand has 5 or 6 hearts, may be enough for 4H. With kind regardsMarlowe
