What is your plan? You lost a trump already and have 3♣ losers in dummy.Which assumption about the ♦ distribution is probably necessary? This hand I kibbed today in BBO and only one out of 16 made 10 tricks in ♥.13 went down from 1 to 3. Im sure, you'll do better, if you think of it. vuroth
I'll play for diamonds being 3-3. AKQ♦, discarding a club. Ruff a club, draw trump, play the winning diamonds. If that doesn't work, I'm down plenty, but I don't see another way to make. Aside: On trick 1, why not take the ace? I'd love to ruff 2 spades in dummy with the two little ones.On trick 2, why not duck? It leaves me the option to play LHO for the jack of clubs, finessing him WITHOUT losing control later. (At this point, I can still ruff a spade small in dummy, and a trump continuation is no worse for me than what I did to msyelf.)On trick 3, why not lead the queen? I still wouldn't mind having a small heart on the board to ruff a spade.
shyams
Play a club towards dummy's 10 at trick 4? The play at trick 2 suggests West started with CKQxx or CKQxxx.
Quantumcat
I can think of some ways to make, but only if they don't lead spades when they get on lead next. I can't find any plan that can work when they lead spades. Can we have the answer?
xx1943
I can think of some ways to make, but only if they don't lead spades when they get on lead next. I can't find any plan that can work when they lead spades. Can we have the answer? Vuroth gave you the complete solution.I posted the hand, because I was curious why 10 declarers in BBO made only 7,8 or 9 tricks in this simple hand. You need the ♦ distributed 3-3 or Jx to have a real chance.Link to the traveller in my hands
pooltuna
I don't like the play to trick 2 I would have played a low ♣ from hand not the Q
Quantumcat
lol if it was just diamonds being 3-3 it's not really an interesting problem. I thought there would be more to it than that.
