cnszsun
1c -1s-ps -psdbl-2s-dblYour partner opened 1c, rho bid 1s, then after partner's balancing double rho bid 2s, what does it mean if you double now?
Gerben42
It means Xmas has come early. PENALTY! (never mind the T-shirt)
andy_h
Dead penalty. If we had some sort of awkward 2353 shape (no ♠ stopper nor enough hearts to make a -ve dbl) we can bid 2NT showing 2 places to play as a natural 2NT doesn't make sense. pooltuna
I had a penalty pass of 1♠
Phil
There is some debate about: 1S - p - p - x;2S - x as being takeout or penalty (I like penalty). There is no debate about an overcaller rebidding the suit and getting doubles. 100% penalty, and I would expect to beat it soundly.
skjaeran
A ZIP number on our scorecard! ;)
helene_t
A ZIP number on our scorecard! :D The numeric part of my ZIP code is 11. I hope we play IMPs ;)
Gerben42
1S - p - p - x; 2S - x If it's penalty, partner can Dbl for T/O again. I think this is simply responsive (2NT to pick a minor) Sorry Helene, should have stayed in the Netherlands, there you get 4 numbers for a Zipcode, for example 2000 = Haarlem all the way up to 7600 = Almelo

peachy
I am surprised you even needed to ask. It is penalty, he had a trap pass and now, after re-opening double by opener, our side has the pleasure of defending 2SX instead of 1SX. sfi
A ZIP number on our scorecard! :) My zip code is 2600, so I need to be defending a level higher to see it.
jdeegan
:) Penalty - all other interpretations are wrong. Doubles by the player behind the bidder are nearly always for penalties.
