A2003
To lure more players to play more bridge,ACBL should award Masterpoint for all total number of hands played.Suggestion:For every100 hands played, Award is 1 masterpoint. For every 10,000hands, Bonus award is 100 masterpoint. Hands played should consider both online games and club games. The more hands played, gains more experience and should be recognized. ACBL should announce the Top 10 players who played most hands for each month in the bridge bulletin.BBO should announce the player who played most number of hands in each month. Question? Will it create a movement in the total masterpoint ranking list faster? Will it create a bad feeling, having played 50,000+ hands, achieved nothing? G_R__E_G
I'd prefer that they do the exact opposite. That way bad players who manage to amass masterpoints just because they play 6 times a week in clubs and 86 times a week online and manage to scratch 10% of the time due to dumb luck would still have zero (or close to zero) masterpoints. This might actually make the masterpoint scale slightly more meaningful.
bid_em_up
While they're at it, they can make all the hands played on BBO worth 1/3 the value of a club level hand. Each hand played at a sectional would be worth one and a half times a club hand. Hands played at regionals could be worth two club hands and hands played at Nationals could be worth 4 club hands. (and yes, I am being sarcastic, please don't take this seriously.)
jillybean
Give added value to MP's by allowing people to convert them into Frequent Flyer points.

I'm not sure about conversion to masterpoints, but think it would be interesting to see how many hands, at what tournament level, are being played by the frequent players. I'd be a bit disappointed if ACBL weren't already doing something in this area -- surely it would be of some use in marketing bridge. Hmmmmm... there had better be a good rate of exchange...... at the rate I win points, I'll be 200 by the time I get a free domestic flight. The good news is that I could then travel as luggage and not notice it.

The ACBL already has this type of system in place. It's called "The Rub of the Green" I don't care how bad a pair is, someday everything will go right for them, and they'll win their precious little masterpoint...
