What is your next bid and why?

Recommended Posts

If you play as the majority, 1 Spade by a passed hand is non forcing, you better talk with your partner.

Anyway, this is the wrong time to think about Drury. The question is: what to bid now.

3 Heart is an overbid 2 HEart not enough. I would choose the overbid.

2H.

And 1S is ok, because in the end it is a systemic question /

partnership agreement questio.

If 3H can be based on 3 card support, than this is an alternative,

but 1S is not bad, because you have will always be able to show

your primary support.

If you dont like 2H now, you could have opened 4H.

With kind regards

Marlowe

PS: I am coming from a school, which thinks 1S is forcing.

fwiw, I would not mention the spade suit even if I am an unpassed hand. I would decide whether I consider this to be a 4 card limit raise or a GF raise and make the appropriate bid immediately. There is little to be gained by bidding spades even if there is a 4-4 fit available, and it tends to make the later auction more difficult. (You are still defining trump suit and strength, when you could be bidding game or cuebidding already).

I would mention the spade suit if my heart support was only three cards, because now playing in a 4-4 fit (in spades) may yield two extra tricks (by possibly having two pitches on the 5-3 hearts), AND I have invitational+ values. If I only had 6-9 hcp, I would again choose the simple raise to 2M, instead of bidding 1S.

jmoo.

2 hearts, to say he has rebiddable hearts and a minimum hand.

what is wrong with the spade bid? the guyt has 2.5 quick tricks and a comfortable rebid.

You are in an information war bidding when you have a clear cut, support showing, alternative is anti %age
