Hanoi5
Partner deals and passes, you open 1♠ on: ♠AKQ9xx♥Qx♦Jx♣KTx Partner bids 2♦ (natural), you bid 3♠ and partner bids 3NT. You?
helene_t
Pass. You showed what you have.
the hog
Pass. Why do always want to tell the same story twice, Hanoi? You must play with miserable partners. You have shown your hand and partner made her decision; don't show it again.
MFA
Then why is this posted here? It does say "advanced or expert-class bridge" in the top of my screen... :P
OleBerg
Pass. Wtp for an intermidiate player.
P_Marlowe
Pass, Partner did hear you. The alternative to Pass is 4S, but as I said, I told my story. With kind regardsMarlowe
aguahombre
i thought 2s was forcing, but I guess everyone is comfortable with 3.
jdonn
i thought 2s was forcing, but I guess everyone is comfortable with 3. Not me. 2 for sure.
Lobowolf
Yup, this is not a 3♠ bid in my book. Yeah, it's a nice suit, but it's a 15-count that includes a doubleton queen in an unbid suit, and we're already in a forcing auction. It's a NICE 2♠, in terms of HCP and the 6th spade, but it's still short of a 3♠ bid.
aguahombre
BTW --- With my partner, 3S would uncover a fouled board. There would be two spade king's in the deck if she bid 3NT. But, JS asking bids/wk 2's are old fashioned like us.
pooltuna
Given that I have shown a 6 card suit I expect partner to support with 2 so IMO he has shown 0 or 1 so I pass now
655321
Given that I have shown a 6 card suit I expect partner to support with 2 so IMO he has shown 0 or 1 so I pass nowRight bid (obviously, not sure why this is in Adv/exp), wrong reasons. If we knew that partner had 2 (or 3 or 4...) spades, and he still preferred 3NT to 4♠, we would be delighted to put down dummy in 3NT instead of bidding 4♠. Vilgan
The 2♠ vs 3♠ is a bit interesting at imps imo. I'd probably bid 2♠ but I'd have no real problems if a partner upgraded it to a 3♠ bid. Anything but pass over 3 NT given the auction is downright crazy though. I personally think its a WTP at beginner levels... what possible bid could you make other than pass? 4♠ is a "bridge is a solo game" bid that tells your partner you think they are incapable of basic human thought.
