jsnjake16
My partner and I have decided to have any preemptive openings be transfers showing a weak opening in the suit directly above starting with 2♦. We are playing in an upcoming C-level knockout, and I was wondering if we need to do anything special such as pre-alert or if it is allowed on the general convention chart? Thanks. awm
This is not allowed on the ACBL general chart. If you were playing in a mid-chart event (like a knockout with 1500 average as the minimum masterpoint holding) then you would need to print out copies of the official defenses from the ACBL database and bring them to the event, and also pre-alert before you start play that you're using transfer preempts. Stephen Tu
Under GCC, can't play transfer preempts below 3nt. 4 level you can e.g. Namyats. You can play them under mid-chart, if pre-alerted & provide defense. But I've never seen any C-level event run with mid-chart. Transfer preempts aren't theoretically advantageous, anyway, easier to defend against since you give more options to the opps.

You right-side games & give opener a 2nd bite with shapely hands. Whether that outweighs the free kicks to the opponents is unclear.
