primstar
If my partner bids 1nt and ops bids 2c ,can I alert and say transfer and bid a trnasfer of 2d?
jillybean
If you’ve discussed it with your partner, yes. I think its standard to play ‘systems on’ after opps interfere with X or 2♣ over a 1nt opening.
jjbrr
If you and your partner have this agreement, then you can bid 2♦ transfer. Unless online, partner should alert (announce if in ACBL) it.
Hanoi5
The idea of alerting a bid is to announce the opponents there's something 'not natural' or 'unexpected' with it. Your partner is supposed to know and that's why in RL bridge it is the partner of the player who makes the alertable bid the one in charge of alerting. When playing in BBO, however, you should alert your own bids and (if I'm not mistaken) only your opponents will see the alert so there's no use in making an undiscussed or abnormal bid and alerting it and expecting partner to be able to read its meaning. ArtK78
I hope that the original post is misphrased. You are not alerting the opponent's bid of 2♣, are you? And you are not alerting or announcing your own bid in face to face play? Getting back to the question that (I believe) was intended, you may play transfers over an opponent's interference bid of 2♣. In fact, I do so. I play "Systems On" over doubles and over 2♣. So, over a double, my partner and I play as if the opponent had passed. The same is true when the opponent bids 2♣, except that a double of 2♣ is Stayman [except when 2♣ showed the majors]. Your announcements (in face to face play) and alerts (in online play) would be the same as if the opponent had not acted.
P_Marlowe
It is possible, but I would suggest you play just X as neg., if they with a suit overcall against your NT opener, i.e. 2D/2H and 2S natural. Because you cant play X as Stayman, if they intervene with 2D,so there is a change, and I not sure I would like to change my systemonly because they overcalled 2D instead of 2C. With kind regardsMarlowe
pirate22
interesting set of replies-----I play sys off if interference comes in-it offers the widest range of choices to take action if opps come in 2c/d/h/s/ to include alerted by the interference bidder
