When would you do what with this hand? (seat, colors, scoring).

I know I will be LOLed at for this but I prefer a preempt style that does not depend (much) on vulnerability in 1st/2nd seat. At least at matchpoints.

So 2 is generally enough for me except of course 3rd seat nonvul.

first and second seat I have 3 people to worry about, and don't think 2H is helpful to my center opponent. Not that I think a pass is that great either, but as mentioned in other strings, sometimes a favorable swing can be created when one is silent and the opponents are unaware. And maybe partner will open, the opponents will be silent, and we can have a nice auction, partner knowing I didn't have a starting preempt that fit nicely into our style.

At IMPs:

1. White vs. white: 3 all seats (note: all implies 1st, 2nd, 3rd)

2. White vs. red: 3 all seats

3. Red vs. red: 2 all seats

4. Red vs. white: 2 in 1st or 3rd seat. May pass in 2nd seat

At Matchpoints:

3 all seats, and all vulnerabilities

Mech - what a pile of dren. Might open 3 3rd seat w/r.

Might open 2 if I was playing that in other seats - but I usually play multi and I don't have a poor suit/min type of response to 2NT - so I really don't like this hand for 2.

Nick

P.S. Later edit - I suppose I might be tempted with 2 multi in 3rd seat at equal.

From a scientific point of view:

You have 7.5 losers and a bad suit. This means that vulnerable you always PASS.

7.5 losers means that you may bid 3 white / red but not at any other colors.

all white I would open 2 in 1st and 3rd, and pass in 2nd due to the terrible suit.
