As it is, your partners gamble did not work out, it showed,why it usually does not pay trying to buy the contract at the1 level, the oppoenents are there and some have the abilityto listen to the auction, and the given auction basically tellsthem that the points are 20-20. I think 3C is not a bad bid, I also think that 2NT should showclubs and diamonds, maybe 2NT showes longer diamonds, and 3C longer clubs, but there may also be a reason to playit the other way round.
