I suspect they deal with enough abnormal personalities in their day job :P So I don't pay any attention to your psychiatrist's bridge opinion! As for what to bid... my wtp was partly in jest... but I would bid 2♥, while recognizing that I will be in an inferior spot when partner is 4=5 in the majors and a good spot when he is 3=5, and a wonderful spot (by comparison) when he is 3=6 or, dare we whisper it: a chunky 2=5=2=4... is it written that he cannot reopen with a double with, say, AQ KQxxx xx AQxx? Someone had a theory that they kept away because it would damage their ego to lose to the nurses. If the answer to this question is very frequently then 2♥ is clearly best as there is no presumption of a spade fit.
