Your call

  1. 1. Your call

    • PASS - you already expressed your opinion over dbl and partner didn't bid 4H
      2
    • 4NT - you have either meaning: to play with hearts stopped, or for minors
      3
    • 5C - Your second suit, and partner might have tolerance given his dbl
      7
    • 5D - You like your suit and hopefully your partner has some diamonds

Competitive situation and undiscussed auction.

You open a non-forcing precisionish 1 which promises 2+ diamonds and is either an balanced hand with 15-17 OR an unbalanced hand with 10-15 and no 5M or 6 (could be (42)25, so unbalanced doesn't promise ). Partner's later double is undiscussed, but probably optional with good values and short hearts allowing us to penalize them if opener has 4 hearts or the good nt hand and bid something else without that.

1*-P-1-2

P-3-dbl**-P

4-P-4-P

??

* - 2+, 10-15 unbal or a 15-17 nt

** - probably optional or DSIP

Bid 5. If partner had an offensive hand that had any shot at 4 opposite this hand, he would have not doubled 3. In for a penny, in for a pound. (Did you consider passing 3x with half you hcp in their suit?)
