ACBLscore question

Recommended Posts

I am just learning ACBLscore. I am able to do most everything, but I am wondering if there is an easy way to enter players for a session. The only way I know is to select "Names" in the edit menu and then dbl click pair 1 and enter the 1st letter(s) of the each player's name, which brings up the database choices matching the letters.......etc, etc, ad nauseum. Is this the only way. It would be neato, if you could bring up the database list of players and select them in order (pair 1, pair 2, etc). I am guessing it can't be done, but are there any other secret/faster ways to enter the players?

I think if you start with F3 (enter names) and have the blank list on your screen, you can start with F6 for begin sequential entry. If you study the screen closely enough, I believe you can find all the commands available such as go to the next pair, previous pair, etc. Good luck.

Using F3, yes to data base, NO to strata, then F6 to start the sequence is the fastest way that I know. When you finish entering the names you enter ST from the command line to strafify the pairs, enter F4, then F6 to stratify in seconds.

Also, if you make a mistake in entering using F3 to swap pairs is very helpful. It is also helpful to have some fake players, player1ew player2ew, etc. to use when you have put someone in the wrong spot and you get stuck. They are handy to fill spots where you have to delete someone but the pair going in are still sitting at another table. Those players are also useful for some movements where you need fake players like the 11 1/2 table revenge movement.

I thinkI read that you are entering only the first letter of the player's last name. That will bring up all the names starting with that letter for you to select from. Try entering at least 3 characters of the last name. It will make your selection list much shorter and thus faster as well. Husbands and wifes or pairs with the same last name also go in much easier as the second name repeats for much quicker selection. Once you have your data base set up, it is not so data entry intensive. Good luck.
