TylerE
Had this happen serveral times recently...during the auction it looks like my LHO is taking a long tank and then I get d/ced. Turns out my connection had gone south. This condition would be much easier to recognize if the windows client (not sure about the flash...my connection problems are quite rare...so hard to reproduce) did not show the bid you make until the server acknoledges it. If you want to get really fancy, it can be shown immediatly, but some sort of error is triggered if the server doesn't acknowledge the call within, say, 3 seconds. qwery_hi
Uday/Fred are the experts here, but looks to me like what would one do if the ack itself was lost. I don't know if the user experience is significantly degraded by this issue for more complex protocols to applied.
TylerE
That should only happen if the link with BBO is down...which is sort of the point.
Echognome
When I used to have connection problems, the easiest way to recognize them is to look at the lobby count. If it's ticking up and down, then you know your connection is good. If it remains the same number, then you know your connection isn't working. barmar
Maybe the client could simply display a warning if it's having trouble talking to the server.
