johnwms
In London, there is an online bridge club called, The Club, where bridge players are automatically ranked according to Association, Federation, League, etc. rankings. They are divided as follows: Clubs are beginners, Diamonds are intermediates, Hearts are advanced, and Spades are experts. In turn, there are games in which only Clubs and Diamonds can play together and Hearts and Spades can play together. There are also open games, as well as tournaments, in which everyone can play together. This venue permits players to advance themselves comfortably as they gradually improve and work their way "up the ladder" to becoming Spades. It also enables those players who would prefer not to play with beginners and intermediates to have tables reserved for more advanced playing and enjoyment. An arrangement like this can be beneficial to everyone, since it readily accommodates everyone's needs. johnwms

What about the need to think one is a better player than is actually the case?
