vuroth
Second seat, red vs white: [hv=d=e&v=n&s=sa2hjt8732dat7c53]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Does having 2 outside aces automatically disqualify me from bidding 2♥?
gwnn
not sure if the answer to your question is strictly yes, but this has to be an obvious pass, you are misdescribing your hand too much (in case pd is strong) and putting yourself in too much danger (if LHO is strong) with that feeble suit. bill1157
its a matter of style, some would open 2 R_DI] just because the weak 2 is so effective, why limit its use so much? Bill
Jlall
I would pass, but if I was 64 I would open it.

Little Kid
I wouldn't open 2♥ in second seat at unfavourable vul without a nice suit unless I have a very good reason to. This being a flat hand doesn't exactly help. I would open some hands with 2 aces preemptively at the 2-level but not here.
P_Marlowe
Hi, as always a matter of partnership agreement, but in thegiven situation (red vs. green, 2nd position), a weaktwo opening bid should be fairly well defined and very close to a book weak two. The main reason is, that the upside for preempting is less, thereis only one opponent left and your partner, and nobody tellsyou that the opponent holds the most, and if you are preemptingpartner, he should have a clear idea, what you have. I would pass. With kind regardsMarlowe
mtvesuvius
I love to pre-empt, but this hand is so defensive, and has so little offense it's not worth it. I pass.
Phil
I would pass, but if I was 64 I would open it. that doesn't make any sense Only if you have no clue about hand evaluation. Agree with Justin.
plaur
I like undisciplined weak two's, but not second seat vul vs not. I remember a hand where Sabine Auken opened a weak 2 second hand vul vs not: xxKQJT9xxxxxx (might have been 7321, dont recall)

neilkaz
2nd seat R vs W is not the place to open 2♥ with this kind of suit and that much defence. 2♥ also may not keep the opps out of ♠ since their auction can start at the 2 level. If you reverse the majors, I have some sympathy for 2♠ (esp playing Ogust) but you still may find things expensive if it doesn't work out. jdonn
I would also pass but 2♥ if 6-4. 2 outside aces doesn't automatically disqualify you, but it makes it a lot less likely. Someone link bill to a definition of "playing strength" please.
Codo
I would also pass but 2♥ if 6-4. You really would open ♠ A2 ♥ JT8732 ♦ AT75 ♣ 3 with 2 ♥ but not the given hand? Hmm, I really thought that Justin would open this hand 1 ♥. But no matter what he does, I would, not perfect, but the smallest lie. And to the given question whether 2 aces makes it a weak two or not: You have too goals while opening a weak two:1. Take away bidding space from the opps. You surely will reach this goal more often when you do not restrict yourself to just a few hands.2. describe your hand to your partner. You will reach this goal, when you restrict the use of a bid to real well described hands. You cannot have both. So, you and your partner should stick to one style and be happy with it. I personally like to have "real" weak twos, so the strength mostly in the suit and not two outside aces.
