Bidding problem

Your partner opens 1S in second seat and the next opponent bids 2C. As West, you see the following:

Deal No. 21: Vulnerable: North-South

K 8 3

A Q J 9 8 6 4

A 7

4

Pass 1S 2C ?

What is your call?

You play negative doubles, preemptive raises in competition, strong jump shifts in competition, Lebenshol, cue bid is limit raise or better, splinter bids.

You do not play negative free bids.

You say you play strong jump shifts in competition. If so, then this must be a 3 bid. If it isn't, why do you play strong jump shifts in competition?

Good catch, I knew there must be something...

3H!

To play strong jump shifts and forcing free bids is a good way to have two ways to show one hand. I won't like it.

But given the agreement this is an easy 3 bid.

Do we play Flannery?

Curse words are not allowed on the forums... In case minors like me happen to become corrupted from reading them.

Too late. At the tender age of 13, you have been at the high levels of bridge long enough to already be corrupted.

How about blasting to 4NT? what you really need to know are key cards in spades. The hearts should be working. Then you can decide who gets to play the hand - errr I mean, which major suit is best as trump.

You might have a problem finding out whether partner holds the K that way. I, for one, would like to be able to pinpoint the K before deciding the level (and strain).
