The opponents are presumably playing in hearts, so the doubler is going to be on lead. In that case, I would expect the first double to suggest a sacrifice rather than be lead directing.

 

The doubler is still going to be on lead when he later doubles. Maybe he's hoping the opponents will switch strains and manage to put his partner on lead?

Weird idea maybe, but it could be suggesting a grand save against a small slam... The other possibilty would be that it's a "cancel" on the previously maybe lead directing double. The other option is that this person is also East in the "What do you think partner has" thread.

I think it's an effort to confuse the opponents. Probably ill advised though. I can't think of any other plausible bridge reason.

Since Hts are trump, 4D could be "last train" , but I doubt it.

If using Itailian ( or "mixed" cue bids )

then 4D= 1st or 2nd Rnd Ctrl .

 

Opps' 1st DBL shoud be lead directing,

but Opener's RDBL says " I have 1st Rnd Ctrl of Diam ".

 

Opener's 5D says: " I also have 2nd Rnd Ctrl".

 

The DBL of 5D says: " Dammit, I got lots of Diams partner,

if you care to sac " .
