I've been sitting out under a pine tree at the Oregon coast watching the ocean, and the USBF games on my laptop. The RV park we are at has amazing wireless.

Nice!

That sounds really good! I'm right on the water in FL, but my wireless internet at the house is awful, and it's hot and humid outside ;)

Oregon sounds great imo :)

Spent many summers at Yachats growing up.

Different type of beauty than CA beaches.

Northern Virginia. Summer, day 2. It is quite surreal sitting here on the porch, staring out into the garden on a near perfect summer morning, catching up on the latest posts from Iran on Andrew Sullivan's blog, the most incredible and hopeful story of the decade for me, but still sneaking in a few hands of Rodwell vs Westra in the European Open, and waiting for the last round of the U.S. Open (golf) to start, hoping Barnes can get back in the groove and if not, that Duval will catch fire.

Here it is a year later, another near perfect near summer morning, same scene, now with dog. He's licking the shovel I used a few minutes ago to scoop a flattened rabbit off the road in front of the house and I'm trying to remember the lyrics to Today, from Surrealistic Pillow.

I suppose we can infer the puppy is still on the raw meat and bones diet if he enjoys licking roadkill residue?

Sounds like a pretty nice morning though.

Life is good amirite?

Me? Tryin to build a race track. Keeping the money guy happy. Trying to avoid strangling the staff people from the County.

As long as I can keep it together until November when the pro season kicks back into gear here - or the project continues, I'm good.

Still working on the track, but the money partner I mentioned above left the scene in August of last year. We relocated the project to another site in October and its made a huge difference in the prospects of this actually happening.

We have limped along, but finally have our membership documents finished. Expect our final land use approvals in November, will close escrow in January and will break ground about this time next year.

Yup, he's still on that diet and he seems to be thriving. When the weather is like this, life feels pretty good.

What's up in Texas?

It's hot here. Sunday afternoon the car thermometer read 116F.

Besides that, I'm starting a bridge club tonight with some friends of a friend. They're my kind of group, I think. Bridge club to them isn't complete without stuffed jalapenos and homemade margaritas. I think it'll be a good time.

Additionally, I've discovered that the gym downstairs from where I work is fantastic, so I've been enjoying a run for my lunch break the past few weeks. It's a lot better than braving the Texas summer heat when I get home from work.

My roommate is gone for work and I've been taking care of his cat for the past several days. She's easily the most annoying creature to live with ever. She has no problem scratching on my door to wake me up too early in the morning.

This morning between writing my short story, and working on the the racetrack I'm also making baguettes.

I'm not a bread baker. I'll tell you if the experiment is successful.

They say the baguette is the ultimate test of a baker's skill

why don't we have a "thumbs up" option on BBF? :) I mean I realise that 95% of my posts would get hidden in less than an hour but sometimes I would really like to use it

Up is a relative concept. It has no intrinsic value.

Up shows the gradient of the gravitational potential of the Earth. It is easily generalisable to any gravitational field.

That wouldn't give it an intrinsic value, as gravitational fields vary. (It is assumed.)

Could be worse. I can't go to sleep with my door shut, else the cat scratches at it all night long.

When my cat wants to wake me up, or wants me to feed him, or change the litter box, or come to wherever he is and pet him, he YOWLS. I'm surprised I haven't had any complaints from the neighbors. And yeah, if I close the bedroom door, he scratches at it. Then he yowls. And scratches. And yowls.
