ACBL Robot Tournements

Recommended Posts

You are playing against humans, i.e. the competitors at the other tables are humans.

The fact that everybody play with and against the same robots, and everybody sit South, reduces the residuals.

This is much more accurate assessment of skills than the MPs you can earn at a random IRL event with a similar level of competition.

it seems that if you fail to play all hands we are disquilified from the tourney

i had 1 min left ,,,with one board to go ooooo board 8 that is and sudenly ......

i was assinged average for the last board.... the moovie window produced an average of 75% yet my name was not there

i was non existant lol

nice idea but imagine my grief :D :( :)

it seems my .25$ was all that BBo was interested in or is it that there are rules that we players are unaware

so i went to the rules section

and i got ,lol,no rules specified ,lol

keep up the good work!!!

We'll add the tourney rules first chance we get. For now, we've added the requirement to the description.

(The requirement is that participants must complete all the boards in the tourney to be eligible to scratch )

Uday

What's the actual time limit? The tourney description says 8 boards at 4 minutes/board, which adds up to 32 minutes, but the clock starts at 25.

Speaking of running out of time, it can be REALLY frustrating in Robot Rewards. A few days ago I was playing one of these, and on the last hand I bid a cold grand. I had 1 minute left to play the hand, and the robot opponents were taking forever to play inconsequential spot cards. Had I been able to finish the board, it would have shot me from out of the money to 1st place. It was almost like they were trying to run out the clock, which I thought was only the human player's option.

BTW, these aren't ACBL Tournaments, tho I expect to introduce those soon.

The time limit is 25 minutes. We dont really have a "minutes per board" notion for these Ts, it is really about 25 mins for 8 boards. The BBO clients like to compute duration from boards (8) times mins per board ( 4, bec. thats the minimum ). We'll clean this up, perhaps with the next web client.

The bots don't stall (they don't know how) on purpose but it surely feels like they do sometimes. It is almost like we want a button to say: 'You're out of time --- do what you can as fast as you can, even if you can't give it as much thought as usual'. Hmm.....maybe we could do this.... if you have less than (say) 2 mins on the clock when starting a hand, instruct the bots to "dumb down".

In the Robot Reward tournaments I have had that problem alot lately, and I would love a button to say "HURRY THE $#%@ UP!!!" ;)
