manudude03
small club, hope declarer needs a ruffing finesse in spades. I assume partner's double wasn't asking for a diamond (or else this is a non-problem really)
655321
I would lead a diamond. If partner is ruffing spades, we might still get the ♠A after a diamond lead.If partner is ruffing diamonds (and RHO's void is spades) we have to lead the diamond. (Edit) Although I suppose partner might be doubling with the ♦A and RHO is redoubling with a void, and all the time a spade is cashing... never mind, I will stick with a diamond lead ) Edited June 10, 2009 by 655321

bb79
When Melih Ozdil bid 7 and then redoubled, a vugraph commentator said "Melih goes all in!". Indeed this deal probably won the match for his team.

qwery_hi
so +2100 vs -1840 ? Edit - Thanks Wayne.
Phil
so +2100 vs -1840 ? no I think it was 2940 vs 1100 =
Cascade
so +2100 vs -1840 ? no I think it was 2940 vs 1100 = 18 Those scores are correct. And beating it is worth +1000 to go with the 1100 at the other table to win 19.
gnasher
What do you think of Greco's double of 7♥? Given the auction without any hands, I'd guess that this was based on a diamond void. With the North hand, I'd pass, as the best chance of getting a club lead. Maybe it was supposed to mean "I have an ace, so don't lead a trump, and please try to guess where my ace is instead." Do people do that? Edit: corrected typo in first line - thanks Wayne Edited June 11, 2009 by gnasher
Cascade
What do you think of Greco's double of 6♠? Given the auction without any hands, I'd guess that this was based on a diamond void. With the North hand, I'd pass, as the best chance of getting a club lead. Maybe it was supposed to mean "I have an ace, so don't lead a trump, and please try to guess where my ace is instead." Do people do that? Greco doubled 7♥. I think this double was poor if there was any chance it would read as Lightner for diamonds. Gitelman doubled 6♠. I think this double was good. There is a case for the double to mean something else than diamond void since when that occurs there is some chance they will be able to run to 7NT. Especially when the auction has been uninformative so they didn't investigate alternative contracts very carefully.
jdonn
I don't care for the double, it seems to me to want a diamond lead. I think the 'normal' lead on this auction is either black suit since they are obviously guessing so you won't want to lead a trump. It was unfortunate that in this case south wasn't going to find a club lead in either case, but that really can't be helped since there is just pass and double to cover three suits. bb79
Vugraph operator had reported that Greco was trying to introduce a run to 7nt and Hampson was leading a spade without double.
