A few niggles with MyHands

Recommended Posts

1) If I search on player name in MyHands it successfully pulls up a list of hands played (call it "Window 1"). If I then click on a traveller, it pulls up the traveller OK, so far so good (call it "Window 2"). Now if I click on the "back" button it just refreshes Window 2 but does not revert to Window 1.

I am using IE8 under Vista 32 bit SP2.

I can get around the problem (if I remember) by holding down the control key before clicking on the link to the traveller so that Window 2 opens in a new tab without overwriting Window 1. Still, it is a pain.

2) When browsing a hand history for a particular hand, I would prefer it if the "Movie" view allowed you to review tricks one card at a time, as it does in the LIN method of viewing. Currently the Movie view will play all cards to a trick on a single mouse click. Not helpful if I have enabled GIB double-dummy analysis and wish to examine the options of the person playing 2nd, 3rd or 4th to a trick.

I can get around the problem (if I remember) by using the LIN method of viewing hands rather than Movie method. Still, it is a pain.

3) If I wish to review a particular team game in isolation of other hands, I don't find it easy to find the team game in the Tournaments listings. It would be nice to be able to jump straight there from a traveller that I get to through MyHands following a search under player name. At the very least it would be nice if the traveller identified the team match number, host, title, start time or similar, and I could then find it by scrolling without too much trouble.

4) Not trivial, I expect, but I would like to be able to download the hand records of an entire match or tournament to my local hard disk, particularly as the MyHands and tournament records do not stay available for ever. No doubt I could get them if I subscribed to bridgebrowser but that is not an ideal solution for me.

5) Not trivial, I expect, but I would like to be able with a single click (or so) to construct a single LIN file, saved locally, from several hands selected from a particular individual's hand listings derived from a MyHands search. A bit similar to item 4 above but slightly different.

That'll be enough to be going on with. Thanks and all.

#1 works fine for me in Safari 4 on OS X Leopard.

Sometimes the symptom you describe occurs when clicking on a link takes you to a page that then performs a redirect. To the browser, this is actually two pages, so the back button takes you to the redirect page, not the previous visible page. The solution in cases like this is to click on the menu icon next to the back butten (in Safari you just press and hold on the back button), and go back to the 2nd item in the menu. You can also use the History menu to go back multiple pages.
