gwnn
Sean Connery is awesome but I prefer Pierce Brosnan to be honest, he's funnier. Am I going to be killed now?
Aberlour10
No way! Roger Moore was unreachable in the elegance of making and drinking Martini coctails!
Phil
Moore was OK, had style, but didn't hold a shadow to Connery. Brosnan was awful. Timothy Dalton was worse. George Lazenby is a trivia question. But....Daniel Craig is the best Bond ever,
mycroft
Roger Moore was the Saint. He was the Saint on the Saint, and he was the Saint in the Bond movies. Now, I happen to like the Saint character. So I like Moore's Bond. Craig's Bond - is a very interesting character. I don't like him much - and the difference in elegance between Fleming's Casino Royale and Craig's is palpable (sorry, poker devotees, but even with million-franc plaques, not the same cachet as Baccarat). The movies - oh yes, I do like me the movies. But are they Bond movies? Not sure. They look a lot like Bourne movies...
mike777
I really enjoyed the first craig/bond movie. The second one was average/loud at best. I'll take Connery. Yes the saint was fun tv as was DangerMAN(Secret agent man)/The prisoner/Avengers. Am rewatching all the old Man from Uncle tv shows (4 years) off of Netflix
mycroft
Yeah - when they realize that ShakyCam is a nice spectacular effect, but pales when done for 50 minutes of a movie, it might start getting better. I've seen the first ten minutes of that second one twice, and still can't tell who's in which car.
Lobowolf
the difference in elegance between Fleming's Casino Royale and Craig's is palpable (sorry, poker devotees, but even with million-franc plaques, not the same cachet as Baccarat). Gotta disagree. I think Fleming dropped the ball here. IMO, given that Bond is 1) intelligent, and 2) competitive I don't see him having the temperment or the inclination to pay a house commission to flip coins. I have much more respect for the character, and find him more believable, playing a game of skill.
pokerbids
Ahh well considering most of us are bridge freaks on here then surely we give extra brownie points for Roger Moore as Bond in Moonraker where he played that "deadly" bridge hand!http://www.bridgehands.com/D/Duke_of_Cumberland_Hand.htm

helene_t
I think Craig makes for a Bond one can believe in. I found Moore much more entertaining, though. Haven't seen any of the others I think. I may be wrong, I rarely pay attention to the names of the actors. But I would probably have recognized Connery. Al_U_Card
Ian Fleming created the character to escape from the dreariness of the post WWII mindset. All of the books were basically about a paper-thin character who lived life on the edge so he had to drink and womanize and be heroic in epic proportions. The storylines were basic and predictable but the ironic humor was the heartbeat of the books. Connery reflected that ethos with panache. Craig seems to have a good take on this line despite the current propensity for pyrotechnics and stunts. The others were just charicatures of the image. Yes the saint was fun tv as was DangerMAN(Secret agent man)/The prisoner/Avengers. Am rewatching all the old Man from Uncle tv shows (4 years) off of Netflix i know it's sometimes hard to separate the movie from the character, but to me craig is quite a bit better than connery (who is, imo, his only competition)... especially in casion royale we see the beginning and end of any humanity or morality bond may have had, and craig captured that perfectly... while the criticism of solace (bourne-like, for example) may have been warranted, i still prefer craig's characterization
hrothgar
I'm still waiting for them to cast Angelina Jolie Bond... James Bond.... She'd kill in the role
mikeh
I think it is too early to call between connery and craig. Craig has had an impressive start, but the second movie wasn't as good as the first, and I am waiting to see how number 3 is. Of course, a lot depends on the script and the director. Craig is certainly more in tune with today's expectations.... looks of frenetic action... and more graphic violence... than Connery's performances seem when one watches an older Bond movie... but, judged in the context of their times, the Connery versions were very good. I agree with the comparison of the Craig Bond to Bourne... except that Craig is a much better actor than Damon. I never liked Moore...as Bond... he seemed too detached from the role... the antithesis of Craig who seems to be the role.... as was Connery in his best films. But Moore has never claimed to be an 'actor'.

y66
Craig is my favorite Bond. I think he does the cold-blooded stuff, the hot-blooded stuff, the real flesh and blood stuff, and the occasional boyish charm stuff better than any of these guys. Still, if I am the producer and Connery is available, Connery is getting the part. Sean Connery is James Bond.
