babalu1997
I lost my 13 year old cat to heart failure. So i went to the local shelter, where conditions are apalling. There i found the tiny black kitten with long legs, so black you cannot see her eyes when pupils are dilated, and huge, huge ears. The kitten cages were crowded and the folks there tell me black cats are bad luck. I brought the kitten home and she was very lively, but sick. I took her to a private vet, and the cat has one of the worst parasitic infection he had ever seen, and he showed it to me in the microscope. He said also the infection was treatable and that he hoped it was not accompanied by a viral problem as well. I started the treatment, she is a little better but it will take seceral days minimum for signs of recovery. Meanwhile she is quite tame, very young and really playful, looks for people, takes the medicine without complaint and wants to nap on your lap already-- reasons for me not to return her to certain death in the shelter, wonder if that is really a shelter. I do not have a name, any suggestions?

helene_t
Babayaga, the black goddess. Matches your bbo user name :)
y66
Baba, babs and babsie are affectionate nicknames in my family so I like Helene's suggestion. Our cat is also an adoptee although I am not sure who adopted whom. She's getting up there in years. Her name is Libby which stands for little booger. I am reading Vicki Hearne's book Animal Happiness. I like her ideas about where animal happiness comes from. Gotta do what you were born to do. We humans have really made this way too complicated. Phil
you cannot see her eyes (snip), and huge, huge ears. Sounds like your avatar :D
babalu1997
Thanks for the replies and wishes folks. The kitten's condition has improved, she is a little fighter and the doctor predicts she will be good in a week or so. But if anyone cares, I fed her jars of 8 month baby food, pea and ham soup, just like they give sick babies to prevent dehydration. It worked.
