kgr
MP's1♦-(Pass)-1♥-(DBL)REDBL-(Pass)-Pass-(2♠)3♦/Pass/DBL..?? RDBL=support ReDBLOpps bidding is not very clear, but you can expect opp to have an opening with a 6-card ♠. If opener has a good 6-card ♦. What is the strength of the 3♦ bid and what should normally be done with a stonger hand and no ♠ stopper?(At the table I was the 1♥ bidder and had an opening. Bidding would have been easier if I would have bid 3NT iso passing the REBDL). Edited June 3, 2009 by kgr
helene_t
Is redbl 3-card support? Not playing G/B 2NT I think 3♦ should be 14-16 points. A stronger hand can bid either 3♥ or 3♠.
Phil
There was an article in the BW that discussed responder's obligations after a support redouble. If Responder passes; it should be at least an invitational hand. Else, responder retreats to 2x. The theory the opponents are never letting you play 1♥ xx'd, so you might as well try to clarify responder's strength asap. This is the way I prefer to play if for no other reason is that it adds clarity to auctions like the OP's. If responder is showing an invitational hand or better, I cannot believe that a pass is only forcing through 2♥. I would think it goes at least through 2N, maybe 3m and possibly 3♥. 2♠ is a strange bid if responder is showing values by passing, but we should still try to logically define opener's calls. I would say: Double = penalty oriented. Pass = forcing but unclear as to direction. 3♦ = offensive minimum
kgr
Is redbl 3-card support? Yes, support REDBL. I'll add it in original post.
aguahombre
Would every opening bid with 3-card heart support redouble? It is fortunate that the opponents have let you both try to start describing your size and shape at the 3-level instead of higher. There is something wrong in a situation where the opponents have taken up none of your bidding space at the one-level, and you have used none of that space. If redouble was ok on AX XXX KQTXXX AX or A XXX AQJTXXX QX, I guess 3D would be ok now.

Cascade
3♦ is just not a subminimum (or very minimum) with six decent diamonds. With a better hand you can cue-bid 3♠. Your methods did not serve you well here. You have a lot of bids without three-card support and only one bid (call) on a diverse range of hands with three hearts. kgr
[hv=n=skxhkxxdakxxxxcax&s=satxhaqxxdxxxcqxx]133|200|[/hv]1♦-(Pass)-1♥-(DBL)RDBL-(Pass)-Pass*-(2♠)3♦-(Pass)-3NT-All Pass 3NT+4 (♦ 2-2 and RHO did discard ♥'s) Still not sure if Pass* should be minimal or Inv+. The problem with inv+ seems to be that you would have a difficult bid with same distribution and only 6 pts.

Perfect for an agreement that shows six diamonds and three hearts and a good opening hand: 1♦ (Pass) 1♥ (Dbl)3♦* (Pass) 4♦ (?**)... We are well on our way to 6♦. * 6+ diamonds 3+ hearts (15)16-18 HCP 4♦ is slammish ** will the opponent bid spades now?
