rfedrick
5N pick a slamI can't say for certain (i was East on this deal), but i strongly suspect that for the pair in question that would be the GSF. Which doesn't necessarily mean it's the wrong bid, of course.
Apollo81
I would cuebid first and then bid 5NT pick a slam over the expected 5♠ response. If partner happens to bid something other than 5♠ over 5♥, I'm raising it to grand.

Cascade
5N pick a slam This won't be good if partner thinks you have something in hearts and picks 6NT.
hanp
It could also be bad if partner thinks that it is a spade raise without a heart control. More seriously, why would partner think that? We have made a takeout double and the opponents have bid 4H, obviously not on a lot of highcards. I can't imagine partner bidding 6NT on this auction. I would bid 5H btw, not 5NT. jdonn
5N pick a slam This won't be good if partner thinks you have something in hearts and picks 6NT. Why would he ever think such a thing and take a chance on a higher strain than has been mentioned? 5NT seems obvious to me, I see nothing better. Cascade
Does anyone have any agreement about 6♥ on this sort of auction?
hackenbush
5NT. Do people really play GSF here?

jdonn
Sorry to change the topic from a perhaps interesting problem, but why is it called grand slam force anyway when it's really just the opposite, a grand slam invitation?

I always wondered that as well. But, I think the idea is that the bid is a forcing bid.

Actually, I'm used to calling that convention Josephine, not GSF (which I too think is an extremely stupid name....)

y66
I like the 5H then 5N idea if we've discussed it. If not, 5N pick a slam for me. See this thread for discussion of similar theme.
cyc0002002
direct 5NT vs 5♥ than 5NT what's the difference? heart control?
the hog
5NT. Do people really play GSF here? Yes. Why not when you have other ways to show your hand?I would bid 5H.
Apollo81
Sorry to change the topic from a perhaps interesting problem, but why is it called grand slam force anyway when it's really just the opposite, a grand slam invitation? Just a guess - it's probably called that because at the time it was invented, 5NT was not considered a forcing bid. The author probably meant "the grand-slam oriented one-round force". manudude03
I always thought it was called GSF since with 2/3 top honours, you're bidding grand slam whether you like it or not. BTW direct 5N for me here.
