mtvesuvius
All NV at IMPs, partner deals, and you hold: AATxxxAQJTxxx Uncontested: 1♠ - 2♣2♦ - ? What's your plan to show this hand? (how about if 1♠ was limited to 15 HCP?)
bill1157
bid 4♣, forget about the hearts unless pd bids them Bill
aguahombre
bid 4♣, forget about the hearts unless pd bids them a 2H rebid, here is not because of a possible heart fit, but rather to discover pattern of the opening bid. In our methods, most hands with a club fit would have raised clubs the first time. But if Pard is starting to pattern up with 5-1-4-3, i certainly don't want to get in his way. Apollo81
2♥ will get us more useful information than 3♣ will, even if it gives partner less. If partner bids 2♠ or 2NT we have an easy 3♣ rebid, and if partner does something else then that will be much more descriptive then it would have been over 3♣. Exactly !! 2♥ for me also.
mtvesuvius
I also chose 2♥. Partner now bid 3NT... How do you interpret this, and what is your next move?
aguahombre
I also chose 2♥. Partner now bid 3NT... How do you interpret this, and what is your next move?If partner is also of the school that doesnt jump around, especially in NT without extras in a game forcing auction, I would think he has 5-3-4-1 distribution with about 18 or 19 HCP. Next move? 4C..kk for clubs. maybe he has the stiff king.

whereagles
1. 3♣ over 2♦, then pass 3NT. 2. Same thing playing precision. Willing to bury slam here.
P_Marlowe
2H, FSF. With kind regardsMarlowe
P_Marlowe
I also chose 2♥. Partner now bid 3NT... How do you interpret this, and what is your next move? Heart stopper, since for me 2H is FSF.This means it is very likely that partner has only a single club, which is a minus factor. I would pass, espeially if 1S was limited. Apollo81
I also chose 2♥. Partner now bid 3NT... How do you interpret this, and what is your next move? 4♣ to show partner the nature of your hand. If he bids 4NT over this, I'm done. If he cuebids 4♦, we're getting to at least 6♣. Codo
2♥ then 4 ♣ and pass 4 NT when partner is not excited.
aguahombre
2♥ then 4 ♣ and pass 4 NT when partner is not excited.partner didnt bid 2nt after i bid 2H --she bid 3NT. Jumps in notrump should not be fast arrival. therefore partner is already "excited". Time to take over the hand with whatever keycard method you have for Clubs to ferret out the stiff king and bid the grand. 4C is that method for us. fachiru
It makes a difference weather 2/1 or sayc is the system used.Playing sayc, 3♣ would be NF 100%, so you're forced into 2♥, 4th.Playing 2/1, 2♥ is an option, but I don't really see what good id does; I much prefer 3♣. This being IMPs, I'll bid 4♣ over prd' 3nt indicating slam desire, but may stop in 5♣ if prd. does not cooperate. It's really really hard to stop short of slam on this powerfull hand even opposite a hand limited to 15 HCP. Cascade
2♥ will get us more useful information than 3♣ will, even if it gives partner less. For example PASS over 3♣ wouldn't be very useful.
the hog
2♥ then 4 ♣ and pass 4 NT when partner is not excited. I agree with Roland's comments here. I cannot see any reason for not bidding 2H on this. You can show the nature of the C suit later.
jdonn
I much prefer a club rebid to 2♥, 4♣ is fine. We don't need a good heart holding to make slam, and we may have a very hard time showing clubs this good if we don't bid them again now.
