Sharing intermediate scores with ACBLScore

Recommended Posts

Not a bridge base online question, more of a "bricks and mortar" bridge question.

I play in an informal (non-sanctioned) duplicate game and volunteered to do the scoring using the ACBLScore program (I am not a director). The game ranges from 3 to 6 tables.

To save time, we enter travellers as boards become complete rather than waiting until after the last round to enter everything. ACBLScore will compute the ranking of the pairs based on the boards that are already entered. Is there anything wrong with displaying the intermediate scores for people to look at?

I ask because I can't recall them doing this in real sanctioned ACBL games I've played in but it seems like a good thing to know where you stand, for example, going into the last round.

;)

Over here in Blighty using Bridgemates there is a facility to display scores on a Large screen visible by all, I find it very off putting to see my scores achieved board by board

But it is done

<_<

Yes, my local club doesn't use Bridgemates, but there is a larger club I sometimes go to less than 10 miles away that does - and they have Bridgemates plus screen. I know some of the people that play there find it highly distracting and I don't know why they do it given the feelings it generates. Personally I like to sit West when I go there so I have my back to the darned thing.

As for the OP's question - if most people would like to see the scores at a certain point - no problem really - given that it is actually wanted. It will be a distraction though.
