H_KARLUK
In a good day East holds:[hv=d=w&v=e&s=sakq5h4dakt82cq83]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv]1♥ p 2♦ p 2♥ p 2♠ p3♥ p ?Have you any strong feeling about this problem ? Let us have your slight preference to bid please. Thanks buddiesHamdi
OleBerg
Voted 4NT. With my regular partner, I have a firm agreement, that this is Quantitative. Slam is by no means certain. If 4NT is RKCB I am stuck with a strange 4♣.
helene_t
5♥, we need good trumps for 6♥.
whereagles
3♠, for tactical reasons. I'm not sure what pard would make of a natural 4NT.I have no way to invite a slam in hearts.I'm not worried of pard supporting this (means he has no club stop).I'll raise pard's 3NT bid to 4, which must now be quantitative. Agree that 5♥ is a nice alternative.
Fluffy
Partner could had bid 4♥ any of the rounds before but didn't. Depends a bit on your style, to me this sequence is consistent with bad opening bad suit. And solid opening who wants to reopen 3NT. So I bid 3NT and let partner bid again if he wants to. With a non regular partner I'd bid 4♥ and live there. We have no source of tricks unless partner has a really good hand.
jdonn
4NT quantitative is clearly the right answer imo. If you have no agreement or don't think partner will understand then it's an impossible problem.
skjaeran
4NT. Should be quantitative also here.
H_KARLUK
I very much appreciate for all inputs :)Lots of hands where four hearts will go down and three notrump could score big--and vice versa. I respect somebody may try to make th winning decision himself, rather than to hope his partner guesses right. A matter of having sympathy to fancy bids or not. Three spades might be very subtle. Who knows th idea behind it will be ready correct three notrump to four hearts, thereby showing extra strength. But partner should assume a six-five hand when someone have bid th cheapest step in a situation where they are searching for their best strain?Oh, four hearts. Notrump is out, quite risky and slam is unlikely when partner's heart suit has holes? Pessimists will settle for a game with 4H and may think 3NT for option traders. Yet I did not meet quarter of th kuntry's bridge experts will they be in that line of work or not ;) Four clubs.. Hmm..Is it th only way to say there is a slam potential in hearts and could be read as showin' general enthusiasm? Most probably I am mistaken, sorry.I think I need to be sure about partner is not foreclosed from correcting th contract. Another question may partner has th Ace of clubs or not to get fast pitches, while with th King of clubs he would tend to bid two notrump. In other words hard to hope "win th tournament on some other board!" :)
hanp
And I thought you stopped posting this stuff in the advanced/expert forum? I guess not.
jdonn
I thought you had strong feelings about what was right, but your post looks like exactly the opposite.
dake50
What 12 to open might partner have? H-AKQ +CA? magical. H-AQ +C-AK? yuck. H-KQJ +CKJ? sub-minimal. I try 4N.
Cascade
For me: 3♠ shows extra distribution 5=63NT is to play4♣ Agrees hearts and is too good for 4♥ not specifically a club control4♦ shows extra distribution and denies the ability to bid 3NT or is too strong for that action4♥ is to play and is frequently based on only a singleton4♠ ? not sure I probably would never make this bid since we play kickback but have already bid spades so we tend to go through explicit agreement (4♣) before asking4NT Quantitative5♣ would be club void with heart support and exclusion Blackwood (key-card)5♦ would be to play with no slam interest
