rbforster
Partner expects you to often open light, should you so choose. At V/V, what's your call? [hv=d=y&v=b&s=saqt98xxhdqt8xxcj]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] If you open 1♠ and the auction gets competitive, do you generally plan on introducing your diamonds or do you treat this as a 1-suiter? For example: 1♠-(2♣)-2♥-(P)?
MFA
Would always open 4♠ with this hand type.
mich-b
4♠. Very seldom it would be right for us to play in ♦s , and this is by far compensated by the cases where the opps having to strt bidding on the 5 level will misjudge level and/or strain. 655321
4♠, no second choice.
P_Marlowe
Hi, 4S. I would open 4S, I dont consider this a 1S opener, but assuming I did,I guess I have to bid 1S. In the given auction, the only issue is, if 3D showes add. values, if not, than the bid is fine, because I guess this was my plan, as I opened 1S.And if this was my plan, I would see it through.Partner bidding hearts did not help, opponents bidding clubs did not hurt. After I opened 1S, if I bid 4S now, I could have opened directly 4S, because, what would I have done, if there was no comp. and if partnerresponded 2H? Would I have bid 2S? followed by 3/4S? over 3H? orwould I have shown my side suit? With kind regardsMarlowe
OleBerg
4♠ If they compete, I double to show it was bid to make. That might backfire horribly on this hand, but selling out to 5♣/♥ is to poor for me.
jdonn
I open 4♠, and almost certainly shut up thereafter.
ArtK78
I would open 4♠, but it is not hard to imagine a hand that partner might hold where 5♦ would be a superior spot. Axxxx of diamonds and a singleton spade.
skjaeran
Always open hands like this 4♠.
Cascade
4♠ We miss out on a better spot in diamonds occasionally. They miss out on a dialogue and hence a heart or club game or slam hopefully more often. We miss out on problems like what to do after partner's 2♥ in you auction. Basically if we open 1♠ this hand will not fit nicely into any rebid later.
Fluffy
4♠. Opening 1♠ would be just to introduce diamonds and let partner judge, so that's what I'd do in that case.
NickRW
Even if you play 2 suited preempts, a hand this extreme looks, to me, to be best given the large number of ♠ treatment. Nick
mtvesuvius
4♠ easy
Phil
I open 4♠, and almost certainly shut up thereafter. Exactly. I've overbid this now by rebidding 4♠ at my 2nd turn.
