MFA
There is no doubt that combination of 3♦ and 6♦ must be crazy. Take your pick which, or both.Is that so clear? Some (not I) have a "weak or strong" approach to 2NT, Michaels etc., and in that context bidding 3♦ then 6♦ seems possible to me.
cloa513
Why not use a cue of 3 hearts or 3 spades and then partner can end in 3NT which has as good chance of making as 5D but as it turns out shouldn't make with spade lead then heart switch. Gerben42
Recently I discussed 2-suiters with my partner, and also with my bridge lesson group. This hand would be the intermediate hand type that starts with 2♦ (at this vulnerability). On your actual hand this would work like this: 1♠ 2♦ 2♠ 2NT*Pass * Good ♦ raise After this you'll be in game, but the question is which one, 3NT or 5♦. Both will be down on good defense (lead ♠K and switch to ♥ for 3NT). Undiscussed I would probably bid 2NT and bid again, I guess.
hanp
Agree that 2NT then 4D is best.
JLOL
What hand are we worried will pass 4D so that we're bidding 5D? Seriously I was deciding whether or not to pass 3D (decided on 4D), I think 5 was way too much.
kfay
I thought 4NT was blackwood and 4♠ was minors.... although maybe it's better to reverse that.
whereagles
I thought 4NT was blackwood and 4♠ was minors.... although maybe it's better to reverse that. Those bids are whatever you agree with pard, although I must say everytime I saw one such 4NT overcall, it was for the minors B) 4♠ as blackwood would not occur to me. Odds that you have such a bid over 1♠ are like 0.0001 at best and even then you could double + bid 4NT. 4♠ is better used as hearts + minor (66, ~11 playing tricks) or even as NATURAL, anti-psyche bid :)
gnasher
I did once see a 4NT overcall used as a specific ace-ask, like a 4NT opening. Astonishingly, it was interpreted correctly. Even more astonishingly, this was at rubber bridge.
