Fluffy
Nobody Vul, dealer North. Opponents are not experts. ♠4♥KQJ1085♦Q9♣AK52 W -N - E - S/ / 1♦-1♠- X (NFB)3♠-ps-ps-4♥X-4NT-ps-??
rogerclee
I'd guess partner is 3055. Without the ♦AK, slam isn't good unless the ♥9 comes down, which it probably isn't, though slam is probably making if partner has something like ♠Axx. Even if partner has the ♦AK we are far from home in 6♣. I'd settle for 5♣.

jdonn
He must have a heart void, and yeah he can't be 5-5 or he bids 5♣. Anyway this seems like 5♣ wtp, unless someone can think of a good reason diamonds would play better, which I can't. Phil, the preemptive raiser doubled 4♥ so hearts are not breaking, and you know partner is void. Aren't you worried you ruff a spade, give up ace of hearts, ruff a spade, and if hearts are 5-2... Josh if hearts are 5-2, then very likely the minors are just as skewed. Frankly, I'm not sure LHO should be doubling on A9xxx, much less A9xx, but the OP did say the opponents aren't good. I could be wrong.
jdonn
If LHO is 4-5 in the majors, then on a good day clubs and diamonds are both 2-3, and in the most likely case one is 3-2 and the other is 1-4. Not exactly the end of the world.
whereagles
Seems like pard bid 4NT to play. I'll pass, since we seem to have the hcp and trick source to make it.

If partner has the sort of hand where 4NT is at all thinkable, and thinks NT is a good idea now, why didn't we hear 3NT from him earlier? Or perhaps you were joking. Fluffy
[hv=n=skxxhdak109xxc98xx&w=sq9xxha97xxxxdxcx&e=saj10xxhdjxxxcqj10x&s=sxhkqj1086dqxcakxx]399|300|[/hv] Hopefully this will be the last time I try slam after they make a penalty double on me. 6♣ X went for only 1 off after ♥A lead, and RHO refusing to overruff dummy twice, but deserved a worse result. It was an avergae. Best possible contract was 5♦ as the cards lied I think.
