My partner bid 2NT with a similar hand but with a real heart stop in the same situation (I think) last weak. I wasn't quite sure if 2NT would be natural or showing 64 in that situation. I think the latter.

I think it's ok to dbl now, or to start with a double, with this hand. Passing now is ok too, you have a good hand for defense and p might take you out to a doomed contract even when 2 would go down.

So I don't have strong feelings about it.

Btw double is take-out and shows ideally 1=3=3=6 oops I mean 3=1=3=6 .

Edit: Thanks Csaba for correcting

I would double.... if partner bids 3, he will usually have at least 5, and it isn't necessarily a disaster... while if he can bid spades, I like my hand. One of the downsides of defending is that declarer may have little choice but to drop my heart Q for lack of dummy entries.

Close tho... easy to see where bidding can go awry.

I would pass.

Bidding again can be dangerous - I have quite a lot of losers, and who knows, maybe LHO had a trap-pass there..

If the hand does belong to us there is a fair chance that partner will reopen , with either of 3, 2, double, or even 2NT (long +tolerance).

If pd can't bid any of those I think we did well to let them play 2.

Last point - if one feels he is too strong to pass now, maybe he should have started with a (big) double, which would be a (slight) overbid.

I would double.

Double might work out badly, but to me this is not a particularly close decision. We have fair extra values, and a hand suitable for playing in 2, 3, or even 2X.

The only other option is Pass. The answer to the question "How can I show my extra values" is almost always to double (takeout), rather than to rebid a suit when you have no extra length. Here, partner will assume a 6 card club suit, and 3 on AKxxxx is a poor choice.

I agree with the initial overcall (but could also live with double instead).

Double.

I would not have doubled the first time. 2 is clear IMO.

Change the Qx of hearts to the Kx, though, and the hand is MUCH better.

Double 2H. This shows a good hand and is take-out oriented. The perfect shape would be 3-1-3-6 and partner will expect a little more than an opening hand. Given that our hand differs from the perfect shape by only 1 card and we have plenty of extra values I agree that this is a clear double.
