Cascade
This forum software is working differently for me than it did in the past. Previously I am sure if I highlighted some text and pushed bold or quote etc the highlighted text would be enclosed in the appropriate tags. Now I get a pop up and have to reenter the text - which isnt much fun for a long quote or code. I could also get single tags by pushing bold etc and then later closing the tag by pushing the button again. This isn't working I get the pop-up. My hand diagrams appear centred not left aligned so e.g. [hv=s=sakqj765h8d8cakqj]133|100|[/hv] Appears with the two 8's centred approximately under the ♠J. Does anyone know what is going on here. I recently installed IE8 if that is relevant.
se12sam
The "centred" cards issue could be IE8 related. I can see normally when viewing from office (IE6) but I recall having the same problem about centred cards when viewing from home (where I have upgraded to IE8)

The single hand diagram is displaying normally for me.
Cascade
Its all working normally in firefox so I am thinking it must be a IE8 issue. Anyone know how we might work around that?

Trumpace
Its all working normally in firefox so I am thinking it must be a IE8 issue. Anyone know how we might work around that? This problem could be occuring, because by default IE8 is standards compliant. If the forum code is generating non-standard html, there could be issues. Try adding the forums to the pages to be viewed in Compatibility View. (Tool -> Compatibility View Settings) In order to do a quick test if this works, try clicking on the Compatibility View button, to the left of refresh and the right of the address bar (at least that is where it is on my browser). Thanks that worked. Well the displayed of hands became non-centred but the bold etc buttons provide a popup and not just a bold tag.

You mean when replying to a post, the B, I and U buttons? They seem to work fine for me.
Cascade
Yes those buttons for me they are providing a popup where previously they entered a tag into the text.
se12sam
Yes those buttons for me they are providing a popup where previously they entered a tag into the text.Type the text first. Then highlight it (i.e. select it) and press the Bold, Underline etc option. The popup will not appear and the chosen text will become Bold, Underline etc. I think this works, but I have not tested it myself.

It used to work in two ways: 1. Highlight some text and hit bold or whatever and the tags would surround the highlighted text 2. Without highlighted text hit bold and you would get a tag. Somewhere later hit bold again you get a tag. Now whenever I hit bold it gives me a popup that asks me to enter some text which it then inserts into the document and encloses in bold tags. It seems to be the same for all of the other similar features.
Trumpace
Strange.I have this showing at the bottom of every page:Powered by Invision Power Board(U) v1.3 Final © 2003 IPS, Inc. What do you have?
inquiry
You should be able to bold a pre-exisiting text by highlighting it and clicking the bold button. I am testing this in this message using an old computer without any new IE explorer browser (current one is version 6.0). I will then log on with a vista-based computer and IE 8, and try it, as well with firefox. Watch this message for updates on if the highlight and post works. Step one. It works with internet 6 running under windows 2000. Step two. Vista with IE 8.0 not in compatibility mode. Highlighting and push bold button still works... As well as in compatibility mode. Step three... vista with current version of firefox.. also works. Edited May 19, 2009 by inquiry

hotShot
Using XP and IE8. I have no problem to mark a part and press "bold" later.
Mariner1
With IE8 you need to use the Compatibility Mode. Look at Address Bar - if you have what looks like a torn page click it andit should turn BLUE meaning the Compatibility Mode is on. Or Click TOOLS - Compatibilty View. Cascade
Yes someone else suggested the compatibility mode. That fixes the alignment problem in the hand diagrams but not the functionality of the buttons.
