I think that 3 clubs is the right call, but it somehow doesn't get across the playing potential of the hand in my view, that I suspect I have 8 tricks in hand. Well, I just think it's a bit incoherent to open a gambling 3NT on a hand that is WEAKER than the one shown. Surely we must have a better play for 3NT with the original hand than if he had opened a gambling 3NT on the same hand without the side ace, no? Here both opponents have already passed. Gambling 3NT is just a 4 minor opening that doesn't bypass 3NT, just in case.
