Hi,

3D showed 6-4, 3H instead of 3D would have shown 6-5,

which comes closer?

4D showed not necessarily 7-4, it just denied min. spade

tolerance.

In the end someone needed to stop at a lower level, this is

not easy, I doubt that you can reasonably stop below the

4 level, and every contract above and including 4H wont be

a lot of fun.

So you could have bid better, but most blame goes to the gods.

With kind regards

Marlowe

I would advise against 3. The misfit warning is out. Ignore it at your own risk.

Better to stay low and bid 2. If you can't stand missing out a game, even at MPs, then by all means bid 3 (if invitational).

Over 2, opener will probably bid 3, to which you should probably PASS.

To me 2 after 2 had been forcing, so I had used that instead of 3.

3 was a serious error, 3 shows this hand.

3 was a forced error, because you missed to show your long spades earlier.

4 was horrible. But it was impossible to find something convincing here.

The spade bidder knows he's playing opposite a singleton or void, and knows his suit cannot play opposite shortness, so 4 spades is very wrong. Not enamored with some of the other bids, but 4 spades stands out as the worst of the bunch.
