mtvesuvius
What do you recommend as a defense to a 2H opening showing 4+ in both Majors with 5-10 HCP?
Mbodell
I'm just making it up as I type but how about X is 13-17 bal, 2♠ is T/O of ♠, 2NT is T/O of ♥ and 3 level bids are inv+ transfers with a transfer into opponents suit either showing a monster or asking for stoppers. 655321
Double is takeout, 2♠ is natural, 2NT is natural...
whereagles
Rule 1: we can play in their suitsRule 2: we don't worry about stoppersRule 3: system on over 2NT (that includes transfers) Reason for rule 2: when was the last time they actually had AKQxx of a major? Direct seat or balancing 2♥dbl = take out of hearts or any 18+overcalls = all natural, except 4m leaping michaels. 3NT = ~19-22.pass + dbl of 2♠ = take out of spades 4th after RHO corrects to 2♠pass = weak or take out of heartsdbl = take out of spadesovercalls = natural except 4m
Gerben42
I play 2♠ as minors after this one. Dbl is conv. T/O (should have good opening strength and 2 or 3♥)
gnasher
Rule 4: If we have two balanced hands and enough for game, we should aim to defend, without worrying much about how many trumps we have. Double = balanced, about 13-16.Everything else = natural

Free
I like penalty doubles and 2♠ as "takeout double".
Gerben42
Rule 4: If we have two balanced hands and enough for game, we should aim to defend, without worrying much about how many trumps we have. Having more than 4 trumps would still be preferable, though...
mtvesuvius
Thanks for all the responses, one of the pairs in the Trials were playing this... Luckily it didn't come up when we played them, but this is good to have for next time... :)
