Kibbing in Tourneys

Recommended Posts

Kibitzers are allowed to see "Director has been called" messages, but only for the table where they are viewing

We all love controversy, so why not allow all kibs to see these massages, even if they are watching other tables

I like to see how different TDs handle these calls, but we miss all the fun if we are sat in the wrong gallery

Yeah, perhaps what we need is "follow the director" precisely as we can choose to follow a player.

But I think if you really want to follow the director and hishers work, you must also have the info the director gets. For example, see private chat and explanations the director gets and gives - also in privat chat.

Btw. Do the director see what happened earlier at the table? Common people cant. We see only what we see, we have no cues about the past chat at the table.

Unfortunately, TD's have no way of seeing the chat at a table unless they are already there as it happens. Many players tell me to read it and I have to explain I cannot see it.

When I go to a table, I most often use private chat to talk to or to prompt a slow player, or to ask a declarer if the want a sub for a missing dummy. I will use a line or so of table chat so other players know I am there, especially if a TD call was not made, and I am responding to either a private message or a message in the lobby.

The private chat to a slow player is preferred and necessary, as it gives the player an audible prompt, which seems to get their attention better than a comment to the table in general.
