mtvesuvius
All Vulnerable at IMPs you hold: KTxxxATxxKTxx (2♥) - 3NT - (Pass) - ? 2♥ was weak, bid by a junior.
Hanoi5
2NT would probably have been 16 to some ugly 20. 3NT is probably some good 20 to 23 but partner probably has the minors. We might have a shot at slam, I'd bid 4♥. Maybe 5♥ is pick-up a slam, or Maybe 5NT. I have values everywhere (except hearts, but that should be taken care of by my partner), so 4NT might also do the trick. Pass might be also right, depends on partner's style. hanp
I have no agreements here and this is a dangerous auction. Is 4H some ambiguous cue or a transfer? What is 4C, clubs, diamonds (I play transfers over a non-jump overcall) or "let's play in your long minor". 4NT is clearly quantitative. 5NT could be a grand slam try but I'm pretty sure my partner will take it as pick-a-slam. This is my choice. The suggestion that partner has the minors is absurd.
rogerclee
At the table I would just bid 4NT, since I don't want a misunderstanding, and this could easily lead to a good 6m or 6N slam. I think you can play two schemes here Transfers:4♣ = ♦4♦ = ♠4♥ = minors (or swap 4♦/4♥)4♠ = ♣ or Natural:4♣ = ♣4♦ = ♦4♥ = minors4♠ = ♠ I'm not sure what's better, but I am sure that stayman is a waste. karlson
I think that the 3n jump opposite an unpassed hand should be the long minor hand, and the balanced hand should just double then bid 3n. It seems pretty unlikely that that's what partner has on this hand though. Not wanting any accident I would just bid 5n and hope for the best. If partner bids a grand over this, I'd kind of expect to make it, actually.
