Trumpace
You are South and reach 5♠ after East shows a 6 carder club at some point. vuroth
My hidden stab at the answer: If ♠ are 2/2, we have 11 top - 7202. If ♠ are 3/1, we only have 10 - 6202. (If ♠ are 4/0, I don't think I have a chance.) I can try to ruff a ♣ in dummy for 11, but of course LHO will be out, and may be able to ruff higher than the T♠. Still, if it's from 2 or 3, there's no harm in that. If it's a singleton honour, ouch.... I guess the only way to improve my odds a bit is to cash the A♠ before running the third ♣. This actually protects me from the singleton honour problem above. V
se12sam
Nice one. I think I'd get this wrong at the table (where I'd play approx the line suggested by Vuroth) My (properly thought out) play is (hidden) to win the ♣A and play a low diamond. kenrexford
Nice one. I think I'd get this wrong at the table (where I'd play approx the line suggested by Vuroth) My (properly thought out) play is (hidden) to win the ♣A and play a low diamond. Nice play. Hidden commentary, just because you left the perhaps obvious out: Your scizzors coup is critical. If you just play the spade Ace and then try to ruff a club, LHO might have QJx, ruff in on the club, diamond to partner, and upper-cut. When someone wins the diamond, as good as anything is a spade back. You win, then play club-ruff. If LHO ruffs in first, there's only one trump left and you have control. You have just compressed the club and spade losers into one loser.
