kenrexford
♠xxx ♥Kx ♦xx ♣AKQxxx Agreed to post this for a friend. You open a Precision 2♣. Partner responds 2NT, which is a relay. You bid 3♣ as demanded. Partner passes, confirming 2-3 clubs and weak. IMP scoring, team format. Your RHO suddenly comes alive and bids 3♦. What do you bid? bid_em_up
I think its 100% that ken will bid 3N in this sequence. To the rest of the world, it looks more like a pass, wtp?
Phil
Ken, does 'simply playing good bridge' not hold your interest anymore? I hope I never get to that point.
kenrexford
I thought this was 100% to pass. Someone else of fairly high caliber bid 4♣ and claimed it was 100%. I posted this on another's request to see if anyone bid 4♣.

mycroft
Partner hasn't invited you to the party. Yeah, your clubs are solid, but that's what, one trick? No singletons, no reason to think that partner isn't going to dropkick 3D into next week. "weak" in Precision means "no interest in game opposite the majority of 15s with, say, KQTxxx". It doesn't necessarily mean weak. OTOH, my system bids 2C-3C directly, so I get to decide what to do over 2C-p-3C-3D. Same thing - hey, partner, what do you want to do over 3D? The main reason for me to play a limited opener system like Precision is that there's so many more one-bid-and-out sequences; partner can tell me whether he wants my opinion whether it's a good opener or a bad one, and if he doesn't, then mine not to reason why. Phil
I would find these bridge problems interesting (and bidding would be attractive) if: 1. I had just read "Win the Bermuda Bowl with me" by Meckstroth 2. I have not had sleep for 36 hours; 3. Someone had just bumped into my car and sped off; and 4. I just drank about four Red Bulls. Tola18
It prob depends on style. In Polish club WJ2005 there is such a sequence, it is no invite in any way, but clearly a reinforcing of the preempt, given with weak cards. (2NT may also contain some strong two-suiters, but this is not the case here). Playing WJ2005 I would pass on this reopen. I have 12 points, partner says he is weak, so? If partner HAD some points, I could chance in 3NT; perhaps by bidding a major so partner bids 3NT. But here he just said he dont have anything substantial. A day where I desperately need a switch I may chance this 3NT sequence anyway, and accept risk to play it in 4C probably going down.
