kenrexford
[hv=d=s&v=n&n=sakqxxxhkqdjxxxcx&s=sjxxhjdaxxcakqxxx]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Flight A Regional KO. The auction at one table: 1♣-2♥-2♠-P4♥-P-4♠-all pass. +680. Opener expects to lose a number of IMP's on this hand because his opponents are top of the top flight in the country/world and surely will bid this slam. 4♠ as a signoff with that hand seems hopeless. However, when the hand was compared, this hand resulted in a huge gain. Guess why? You can ask any questions that you want, although I'll probably keep the other team secret out of respect. kenrexford
These threads are always terrible. Maybe, but I found this one fairly comical, on the one hand, but fairly intellkectually challenging on the other. Plus, it will bring up a possible sequence undiscussed by some people and a horrible result. Perhaps as a shortcut, I'll hide the final resuylt, so you can predict how: Responder declared 4♥, down several.
dkham
Looks like someone passed out a cue bid?
kenrexford
I'm surprised no one figured this out, or at least no one posted an answer. South opened a precision 2♣. North bid 3♥, systemically a transfer and GF. South was sure that 4♥ would be understood as showing shortness as a super-accept of spades. North was sure that 4♥ showed 5♥/6♣.
