mich-b
[hv=d=n&v=n&s=sqt63hatdaj42ca65]133|100|Scoring: IMP1NT - 2♣2♦ - ?[/hv] 1NT is 15-17, (pd could upgrade 14 with good 5 card minor, and will not have 17 with good 5 card minor) maybe you have a better system to handle this hand, but suppose your options now are either : 3NT to play4NT invitational (after which opener , if accepting, can show 4 or 5 card suits) your choice? JLOL
yeah 4N, we could easily have 6 of a minor. I would just bid 3N if partner had bid 2H.
Mbodell
4nt. Frankly, I'm a little closer to 6nt than 3nt.
rogerclee
4nt. Frankly, I'm a little closer to 6nt than 3nt.You're bidding 4N for the wrong reason then, 6N will usually not be a very good contract. The reason to bid 4N is that it is very easy for 6m to be a good contract. If you told me that partner would accept my 4N invite but that we have no minor fit, I would be very unhappy with my decision.
mtvesuvius
4NT, I'm glad partner didn't bid 2♥. I'm looking for a minor suit slam mainly, since my hand really isn't very valuable in NT. Give partner Kx Kxxx KQxx KQx.
jdonn
4nt. Frankly, I'm a little closer to 6nt than 3nt. I don't agree with this statement at all. I can accept bidding 4NT but this hand is utterly minimum for it.
karlson
I agree with Josh. 4N, but this is a real minimum. Perhaps if we want to emphasize that we'd like to play 6 minor, 4♠ is available?Edit: (Ah, I see the OP mentioned that nothing else was available). Fluffy
Those tens make it worth 4NT, remove one of them and 3NT it is.
Phil
Is there a standard meaning for 1N - 2♣ - 2♦ - 4♠? Many play 1N - 4♠ as quantitative but with emphasis on finding a 4-4 minor fit. If 4♠ is quantitative (and 4N specifically a 4333 or a 3433), that's my call.
