nick_s
[hv=d=s&v=n&s=s864hj76dak105ck92]133|100|Scoring: MPPass - (Pass) - 1C - (2C) -??[/hv] You play a 12-14 NT at this vulnerability, so 1C is clubs or a strong NT. 2♣ is Michaels. If you pass or X, LHO bids 2♠ which comes back around to you. Now what?
Phil
Over Michaels you can play that 2M is a stopper. Or you can play unusual/unusual. Double is usually penalty in one of their suits. A delayed double is typically cooperative, denoting some sort of balanced hand.
rogerclee
I would double first, which I play is mostly card-showing, though all of our subsequent doubles are penalty oriented. Given that partner doesn't want to play 2♠x, it seems clear to bid 3♣, having already shown values.
inquiry
I double Consider playing Garozzo 2/3 Doubles. We can give Benito the credit for the method, but our own frequent poster Glen (ashton) describes this convention well on his page...see http://www.bridgematters.com/victory.htm What you do here, is double the cue-bid, assume first LHO bids a major. Partner will double with 2 or 3 cards in that suit, and pass with 1 or 4 (and bid with a void). If LHO and partner passes, and RHO bids a major, you double to show 2/3 in the suit (if you had more, you would pass and await partners double). mich-b
Double , showing some useful values. On the 2nd round I like 3♣ , especially in your system, because either we have a ♣ fit , or pd with strong NT will bid again.

P_Marlowe
Hi, X, seems clear. Now the only open issue is, did the X create a forcing passsitiuation, at least on the 2 level?I would say yes, but since I am a passed hand, this is not100% clear cut. If the X did create a forcing pass, than partners pass showeda semi bal. hand. => I would make X, if 2S comes back. With kind regardsMarlowe
