JLOL
I'd bid 7H.
xcurt
I'd bid 7H. Isn't this a bet partner has the ♣K and another trick? Too bad my spades and hearts aren't reversed or I could have opened 5NT specific kings. Playing standard methods after 2♣-(3♠), doesn't double show random garbage? I think I would just content myself with 6♥ at this point. I guess this means I should choose 1♥ first, trying to see if partner has a club suit, since I can always bid 6♥ unilaterally later. I guess I learned something from this.
JLOL
You're right, 2C 3S X would not show the same as 1H 3S X. I was just thinking it would since OP said it would be the same whether I opened 1H or 2C lol. I have no idea what 2C 3S X shows and used the UI that partner would make a negative double over 1h to influence me.

Hmm - you also assumed that the double was negative (it was not). But, today your partner will flop a singleton ♣ and the highest 3 of the remaining hearts. whereagles
There are no methods to bid this, so it's just a plain statistical 6♥ for me.
pirate22
my opp opened 5hts pass pass pass ,making 7 hts no defence his pards hand was xxxx--983--AQ10xx--x cl hence if opener opens 1 ht/or 2cl in comes 3 spades x is the x neg or what(confusion) if i was the opener i would open 4n/t and get 1 ace (system bid 5d)(denies2 aces rolleyes: ) at least one is in 6 hts,and if you feel lucky bid 7 hts

manudude03
Next time you get that hand and it goes: 1H-3S-X-P4NT(ugh if for aces)-P-5D partner will come up with xxx xx AKQJ xxxx and you'll go down in 6. With regards to the 5H opener, there are 2 main ways of playing it, and the hand posted is miles away from either definition. I suppose you may be able to manufacture a way to get to 7H (helps if you or your partner is Ken Rexford). Maybe something like: 4C(i)-4H(ii)4S(iii)-5C(iv)5D(v)-5NT(vi)7H (i) Namyats (strong 4H opener)(ii) No slam interest(iii) Feature ask (NOT blackwood)(iv) First or second round control in clubs(v) Any other feature(vi) Ace of diamonds, no other feature (maybe have 6D as showing the king) If the opp overcalls 4S, pass would show interest, X denies and 4NT would be feature ask. I won't divulge into more detail as it was moreorless made on the spot (and getting ready to get LOLed)
