I played once with a good player... an expert but not WC.. who redoubled on this hand type... too bad it went for 1000. Heck, they had 660 available :)

btw fwiw... That's an easy 1 opener for me, even red. 11 HCP, two quick tricks, a rebid, 6 losers, all the tens...

Anyhow, while I don't like being aceless, I do have 11 HCP in my longest suits and 4 T's so I open this 1 as it is too strong for 2, IMO.

This hand reminds me of a book that was published in Germany in the mid-1800's. It was titled (in German, of course) "How to Kibbitz a Chess Match." The book consisted of about 100 blank pages except for the last page. On the last page it said (again, in German), "Keep your mouth shut!"

 

That would have been good advice to the player who opened 2 when considering his rebid over the balancing double.
