Have at it, vultures![/hv] Needless to say, this board was a push, and we are playing the finals of our KO tonight, but I was really disappointed not to reach slam here. rogerclee
4♣ instead of 3♠ was obvious. 5♣? I think 4m is natural and 4♥ is a strong spade raise.
jdonn
Yes, 4♣ instead of 3♠, and 4♦ instead of 5♣. 4♣ is just so obvious that north gets more blame.
whereagles
Agree to 4♣ & no 3♠. Opener has excellent fillers for the minors, a useful singleton... really a no brainer, even if you play 2♠ as catchall with 5 cards.
Phil
4♣ instead of 3♠ was obvious. 5♣? I think 4m is natural and 4♥ is a strong spade raise. Agree on all counts. 3♦ should be a 5-6, and North's hand has become a lot better so 4♣ is clear.
quiddity
3♦ should be a 5-6, and North's hand has become a lot better so 4♣ is clear. Is South expected to bid 2NT with something like Ax xx AKxx KJTxx?

skjaeran
I really don't get 3♠ at all. Bridge is a partnership game - help partner. With Axx support, a singleton and QJx in responders 2nd suit, 4♣ stands out by a mile. Rebidding KQTxxx, when that suit might be of no value, is beyond me. Agree that 5♣ was a bad bid too, but far from the class of 3♠.
ArtK78
I will just join the chorus about the 3♠ bid being clearly wrong (4♣ being clearly right) and 5♣ also being clearly wrong (4♦ being the right choice). I also don't understand why 3♦ would show 5-6. But 3♦ followed by 4♦ would.
