Mirjam_3
in a tournament my opp opened with an alert and wrote in it:6 meaning 11-40. I had to bid after this bid and i had an opening hand so i asked privately to this opp:'Does 6 mean a 6 card -suit?'Long silence and than came the answer:'No, it can be anything.' I am very blond so i thought about that one and than i concluded the 6 must mean SOMETHING. So i tried again and i asked:'What does the 6 mean?' The answer was: 'It can mean 6 different things.' Hehe, that was a new point of view, so i went on:'Which 6 things?' In the meantime the other opp asked me why i didnt bid. I said to the table: 'I cannot bid.' The other opp:'Plse, leave and reenter, it might help.' The alerting opp: 'Well 6 meanings is too much to write here.'Me: 'Try it.' Me to table: I can bid but i cannot....' (pfew, now i wish i speak better english) The alerting opp: 'Well, too much to write...'The alerting opp to table: 'Mirjam_3 asks too much.' I decided to call the director and the respond came quick by tournament chat:'Plse, table x, explain yr bid.' At the end i bid but i really think it was funny... well, now we wonder why tournaments take soo much time..
Free
lol, it's really awful that some players just don't want to type their explanations. It's hiding info from opps and is not allowed. If they want to play a complicated system, they have to accept the consequences of having to type a lot more than most people.
Gerben47
I'm sure he means 11 - 36 not 11 - 40. 38 - 40 hands don't exist and with 37 you don't need a special opening bid. I think opps should have a link to their convention card (not BBO CC) and post that so you can read that. Besides, what system has 6 meanings?1C (Polish) has only 3 or 4 depending how you count. Unless you count every distribution as a meaning: then even SAYC has 6+ meanings for 1C!
mishovnbg
Hi Mirjam!Of course you have rights to know all that your opps agree about their bids. The bid with lot of meanings is usually kind of "waiting" bid like nebulous 1♦ in Precision. Instead of explain what such bid include is more effective to explain what it doesn't include. For example about nebulous 1♦: "11-15hcp, deny 5+major". Beause your opps may don't have such knoledge about short effective explantions, try to ask them next time: "ok, can you explain then which hands your bid doesn't include?". It can help in case opps are really willing to help you, otherwise you can call director...Misho

Trpltrbl
If they don't wanna explain, I will just give them a adjusted zero each hand they refuse and eventually barring them from playing in my tourneys. If they can't play by the rules, they won't play  Mike :)
luis
If they don't know that they can't have more than 37 they probably don't know what they are doing so I wouldn't care.
