As I understand minor suit stayman, which I usually don't play,

1NT - 2 -

3 - 3 -

3NT - P

With 3 showing shortness.

Why wouldn't south show his hand? Is he worried that he will stop the opponents from the minor suit they were about to lead?

Am I the only one who would overcall 2 with the East hand?

Yes, the suits as thread-bare

Yes, we're vulnerable

Yes, my Aces are both in the short suit

Even so, i think that I'd call 2

Let's assume you overcalled 2 showing Majors. Could you please complete th auction by all seats ?

Thanks.

Yeah it's automatic, I just didn't think to notice the EW hands.

A couple of things I don't understand:

1. Why are we showing the spade shortness? The stiff if the Ace. If partner has Jxx, that may be a second stopper after the lead of K from KQx+. Is he supposed to bid 3NT with that? Do you want to push toward 5min? Just looks like 1N-3N if the opps do not bid.

2. Capp?!? Whatever. Clear 2, then.

3. After 2, of course the call, I'd play UVU and bid 2 by South (diamonds, stronger), after which North has a clear 3NT blast. South respects that.
